cartrdige needles FAQ
Round Liner Tattoo Needles/Cartridges are generally used for lining. The pins on round liner needles are soldered in a round pattern to create crisp, clean lining tattoo work.
The thickness of the line depends on the size you choose as well as the gauge of each pin. For example, #12 gauge round liners, which diameter of each pin is 0.35mm, are the standard ones for creating bold outlines like those seen in the American traditional tattoo style. Smaller configurations like #04 and #06 gauge are also commonly used for fine line or mini tattoo work.
Commonly Used for: Most of tattoo works, such as dot work, letter tattoo, neo-traditional and so on.
Round Shader Tattoo Needles/Cartridges are commonly used for color filling and basic shading, in addition to doing thicker lines. They are very similar to round liners except the pins are not placed as close together. So that you can use them to pack pigments into the skin while using each shade with security, for a spotless surface.
EMALLA 3 and 5 round shader cartridges are useful for thick lines. 7 and 9 shaders are useful for covering smaller areas while 11, 14 and 18 shaders can cover larger areas.
Commonly Used for: Some line work and lettering. Japanese, traditional and neo-traditional. Geometric. Basic shading and color filling of most tattoo works.
Curved Magnum Tattoo Needles/Cartridges have an advantage in blending colors and laying down smooth shades even on large skin areas. They are also known as soft magnums, soft edge magnums, which pins are arranged so they arch at the centre. Meaning the edges of the needle run along the skin with more conformity, allowing for better dispersal of ink and a more consistent line. It’s also less damaging to the skin and helps with soft shading.
The most commonly used variations of curved magnums are 11, 13, 15 and 17 needle configurations. Also, there are higher sizes, including 19, 21, 23, 25 and 27, which are for really large tattoos. EMALLA offers about 40 different configurations, from 5 curved magnums, leading up to 27 curved magnums in order to fully meet artists' needs.
Commonly Used for: Black and grey. Realism. Japanese. Traditional and neo-traditional. Tribal and all types of shading and colour packing.
Magnum Tattoo Needles/Cartridges are the preferred grouping or needle type for much shading work. Magnums hold and deliver a lot of ink, making them perfect for large areas of colour packing and shading. Artists are able to change the penetration of needles by changing the angle and use a different number of needles to create various tattooed textures and effects or cover different areas. Less passes are required over an area to work the ink in meaning less trauma to the skin.
EMALLA comes in the same variations of magnums as curved magnums, from 5 needles all the way up to 27 needles construction. This configuration allows for optimal ink carrying and area coverage. The ink stays between needles, evenly distributing the ink with every single puncture. It lets tattoo artists create solid and precises pigment distribution without causing light spots.
Commonly Used for: Black and grey. Realism. Japanese. Traditional and neo-traditional. Tribal and all types of shading and colour packing.
Textured Tattoo Needles/Cartridges haven’t been polished on the tapers, leading to a larger surface area which is perfect for holding onto ink. They are designed for holding and depositing more color quickly which causes less skin trauma. Ensuring the same tattoo effect, the texture needles do not need to go down to skin as far as smooth needles.
